Walter French's arrived at 360 S.W. Zobrist St. on Saturday, July 11, and offers three types of cheesesteaks

A new food truck in town is bringing a taste of Philadelphia to Estacada.

Ali Limon and Matt Lewis opened Walter French's, which specializes in Philly cheesesteaks, on Saturday, July 11, at 360 S.W. Zobrist St.

"We knew we wanted to be in a smaller community. Estacada hit all the marks," Limon said. "It's been a really great experience. Everyone is excited to have a different food option."

The food truck's menu includes a classic Philly cheesesteak, a chicken cheesesteak and a vegetarian cheesesteak and has sold out on several days since opening several weeks ago.

The pair opted to focus on Philly cheesesteaks as a nod to Lewis' hometown.

"Matt is from Philadelphia and ever since I've known him, he's wanted to do a food truck. This is getting back to his roots," Limon said.

The establishment is named after the pair's french bulldog, Walter.

"We have three dogs, and Walt is the loudest," Limon said. "He's the one with the biggest personality."

Though they live in Oregon City, they wanted to open a business in a small town like Estacada for the community atmosphere.

"We could have gone to Portland, but we wouldn't have gotten the small-town feel," she said, adding that she grew up in a town similar to Estacada. "I like seeing the same faces, and getting to know people. There's something great about small towns."

They hope to be a valuable asset to the area.

"There's a real need in these smaller communities. People want food carts, but they're not offered as much," Limon said.
