The Estacada Area Food Bank recently received around a half-ton of food from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The donation on Tuesday, Aug. 11, which came from the Church's Bishop Storehouse in Happy Valley, included canned beef, turkey chunks, beef stew, pork and beans, and frozen ground beef.

"We lost sleep over the weekend about sourcing protein, and on Tuesday there it was," food bank Debra Bufton told church leaders. "Words cannot express the depth of gratitude for the support."

In Estacada, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is at 30498 S.E. Eagle Creek Road, though the congregation is meeting virtually because of the COVID-19 outbreak. For more information, call 503-757-4400 or visit

"Many thanks to our LDS community for the much-needed boost to our protein stores," Bufton said.
