Estacada news briefs
Website highlights watershed
A new website will connect visitors with information about the Eagle Creek Watershed.
Launched last month by the Friends of the Eagle Creek Watershed, eaglecreekfriends.org features natural history information and natural resource related news for the area. Contents include aerial photos, historic maps, newspaper articles, maps and documents focused on technical elements, water quality, fish and cultural history.Â
"We believe having a central repository where this information is kept will aid others in their future work, whether that be research or habitat improvement, or those that are simply curious about our amazing watershed — the largest, most heavily forested and least developed in the lower Clackamas River basin," David Bugni of the Friends of the Eagle Creek Watershed wrote in an email.
Memorial bricks benefit Wade Creek development
Community members are invited to purchase a memorial brick, which will be installed outside of the Estacada Public Library to raise funds for the next phase of Wade Creek Park.
"Honor your loved ones, recognize a special person or pet in your life, or promote your business or club with an engraved brick at the entrance to Estacada Public Library. This will be your last chance to claim one of the 99 bricks still available for engraving at the library front doors," the library's website said.
The minimum donation for a brick is $100, which is tax deductible. For more information, visit
cityofestacada.org/library/page/memorial-brick-sale-2021.
Construction on the third phase of Wade Creek Park, located behind the library, began earlier this summer. It is expected to be completed next summer.
New features will include an amphitheater, community room building, picnic shelter, benches, pollinator garden, exercise stations, trails, boardwalk and a restored stream.
