Estacada True Value will become an Ace Hardware store
Though Estacada's hardware store will soon have a new name, most of the faces of its employees will remain the same.
Estacada True Value announced earlier this month that the store at 310 S.E. Main St. would transition to an Ace Hardware. Store owner Steven Davis estimated that the transition would be complete around March 2022.
Though the store will now use Ace as its primary vendor, Davis said that many of the same types of products will still be offered.
"The store may be rearranged a bit, but everything will be pretty similar," he said. "We'll still have a lumber yard and garden center, and the same employees."
The store has been affiliated with True Value for more than 40 years. Davis said the switch "was not an easy one."
"True Value has always been really good," he said, noting that True Value will still be one of the store's vendors. "Looking at what Ace has to offer, the structure is more of what we're looking for. There's strong brand recognition and larger inventory."
Davis added that the brand awareness is particularly valuable with the customers the store receives today.
"We've seen our customer base change. It used to be the same faces every day. Now it's constantly newer people, who just bought a house, or contractors," he said, noting that the switch to Ace was not made because the store is facing financial difficulties. "I think it will benefit customers, and it will benefit us."
