Route 26 Cruisers host Cruise to Estacada Car Show for first time since pandemic

On Aug. 6 the Route 26 Cruisers are hosting the annual Old Time Cruise to Estacada Car show for the first time since the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020.

The last show in 2019 boasted over 150 cars, a significant growth since the car show's beginning. Started by Leo Hoeft alongside a few Route 26 Cruiser club members, the first show featured roughly 20 to 30 cars.

"When we started out 15 years ago, we just had a handful of cars and were in Downtown Estacada on Main," Nancy Horton, chairperson of the event, said. "And then as word spread, we grew a little bit each year."

Hosting the event are the Route 26 Cruisers, a self-described "group of car folks that like to find excuses to get together and do all sorts of interesting stuff," according to the group's website. Started in 1997, the group hosts and attends several car shows throughout the year, with the Old Time Cruise to Estacada Car Show being their largest.

The group focuses heavily on community engagement and benefiting the Estacada area. The Old Time Cruise to Estacada Car Show began in 2007, and since that time has raised between $30,000 and $35,000 for the Estacada area food bank.

The car show will take place at 11 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. and features vendors and a DJ for music as well as a raffle drawing and silent auction.

"This is for the community," Horton said. "There's no admission for the community to come out and enjoy the day, see all the beautiful vehicles and help support the food bank."

And, for vehicle lovers and owners, admission to be featured in the show is a $15 fixed price. Owners can pre-register on the Route 26 Cruisers website.
