1980: Community member earns money for best news tip
1980 — Cascade Utilities president Duane Day won $5 for connecting The News with the best story tip. "Day called the newspaper and told us about a herd of buffalo in Eagle Creek," The News reported. "The Clackamas County News likes to give away cash every week for news tips."
1990 — Fish reports on the Clackamas River noted that the water was off color, but still fishable. The report further noted, "improving prospects for winter steelhead from the mouth to River Mill Dam."
2000 — Items on the lunch menu at the Estacada Community Center included chicken rice bake, au gratin tuna and noodles and French cut green beans.
2010 — Activities in the newspaper's Around Town calendar included a pancake breakfast at the Springwater Grange, an opening reception for Phil Lingelbach's Spiral Gallery show "Birds of a Feather" and a musical benefit for a young Estacada area resident who had been diagnosed with cancer.
2019 — Estacada resident Raeline Kammeyer was honored as the Oregon Fairs Association Fair Board Member of the Year. Kammeyer began attending the event as a child with her parents and siblings and showed animals. She had spent a decade on the Clackamas County Fair's Board of Directors. A press release about the award praised Kammeyer's positive mindset and willingness to help with a variety of projects. "Raeline is not afraid to get her hands dirty," the statement said. "She attends the fair every day with an upbeat and cheerful attitude asking what she can do to help; no job is too menial for her to tackle."
