LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Let evidence-based decisions guide future actions
I'm am deeply worried about this current pandemic, as I am certain that Gov. Kate Brown, Sen. Alan Olsen and Rep. Christine Drazan are as well.
We've recently had a group of concerned citizens break the stay-at-home order to protest the measures that we have had to take to keep our community safe amid this outbreak. It seems that everyone both wants an end to the quarantine and to the pandemic.
However, as we know from organizations such as the World Health Organization, we will not have a vaccine for at least another year This is why I am asking Gov. Brown to consider an evidence-based proposal by a group of individuals from across the political spectrum and from numerous disciplines called "The Roadmap to Pandemic Resilience" to guide Oregon and our allies in the Western States Pact.
This proposal had four phases that will allow us to reopen the economy by the end of August while still allowing for the curve to flatten. I urge the governor to look into this as a measure to guide us during these difficult times.
