I am the school district superintendent in Colton, Oregon. I am personally raising funds, not through the school district, for the communities of Estacada, Molalla and Colton.
The wildfires in rural Oregon have impacted our communities greatly. Many community members and families in Estacada, Colton and Molalla have been displaced.
This photo is of some families taking refuge in a parking lot in a safe zone. I took it one morning while visiting them with doughnuts and coffee to see how I could support them.
Some people have lost their homes, and some are unable to return to their homes because of the smoke and air quality. This relief fund will help the people impacted at the ground level. The funds will be distributed based on need to help with food, clothing, temporary housing, cleaning homes so they are livable again, and financial impacts due to loss of wages, such as rent and bills.
This fund will help these amazing communities recover from this traumatic experience without worrying about some of the financial effects.
Very few people know that local volunteers fought alongside firefighters to save their communities from wildfires. These communities are strong and proud to support one another through this catastrophic event, and these communities are not wealthy with resources to rebuild and recover.
We need the funds immediately to support with the recovery process. We would be forever grateful for your kind donations. Visit GoFundMe: Colton, Estacada, & Molalla Wildfire Relief to make a donation.
