Commissioner Paul Savas to speak

Clackamas County Commissioner Paul Savas will discuss Clackamas County issues and take questions from the public during a talk at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Eagle Creek Fire Station, 32200 S.E. Judd Road. The public is invited. The event is hosted by the Eagle Creek-Barton Community Council.

Sweetheart Dinner

The Eagle Creek Grange, 24491 Eagle Creek Road, is offering a Sweetheart Dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14. The cost is $7 per person. Entertainment is by Old Time Fiddlers. For more information, call Barbara at 503-668-6028.

LEGO Creativity Club

The Estacada Public Library’s popular LEGO Creativity Club will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.

Twenty-nine people attended the club’s last meeting Saturday, Jan. 18. Under the guidance of LEGO enthusiast Blair Archer, kids helped build parts of a LEGO robot. The robot is on display behind the circulation counter at the library. For more information, call the library at 503-630-8273.

Sunday Socials

Fearless Brewing Company will start holding Sunday Socials from 2:30- 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. They’ll run through Sunday, May 18.

They’ll be a bit like speed dating, but you’ll meet everyone regardless of age or gender. You’ll spend three to four minutes talking with someone, and when the bell rings you’ll move on to the next person. A casual social hour will follow.

There will be live music from time to time.

Free Women’s Self-Defense Clinic

Magma Arts, a local martial arts group, will teach a free women’s self-defense clinic at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Estacada Public Library, 825 N.W. Wade St.

Participants will learn how to escape holds and grabs and discuss other tools to stay safe. Space is limited. Call Mike Keyes at 503-709-3098 or Pete Hoppenbrouwers at 971-409-7432 to reserve a spot.


Valentine’s Day Party

The Community Center will host a special lunch and Bingo in honor of Valentine’s Day on Friday, Feb. 14. The meal costs $5. Sign up at the Community Center or make a reservation by calling 503-630-7454.

Spirit Mountain Trip

The Estacada Community Center’s bus departs for Spirit Mountain Casino at 7:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month and returns around 4 p.m. The trip costs $20 a person.


The Estacada Community Center holds a breakfast for all ages at 9 a.m. Wednesdays. The meal costs $3. The center is at 200 S.W. Lakeshore Drive.

A free breakfast is offered from 8 a.m. to noon the third Saturday of each month to those who could use a hot meal, cup of coffee or a relaxing place for a good conversation.


The Community Center serves lunch at noon Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The meal costs $5 for those under 60 years old. For people over age 60, there is a $3 suggested donation.

Dinner and Music

Dinner is served at the Estacada Community Center at 5 p.m. the first and third Saturday of each month. The meal costs $5. Stick around from 6-8 p.m. after the dinner to hear live country music from the Estacada Heartland Classical Country Band.


The Estacada Community Center delivers Meals-On-Wheels at 11 a.m. Monday-Friday to seniors and homebound persons. There is a suggested donation of $3 a meal for adults over 60. Frozen meals for the weekend are available on request. For more information call the Community Center at 503-630-7454.


First Friday

Tacy Jones is the Spiral Gallery’s artist of the month for February. Due to the weather, the First Friday artist’s reception has been rescheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the Spiral Gallery, 341 S. Broadway.

Come enjoy wine, goodies and art.

‘Old Time Gospel Sing-along’

There will be a free “Old Time Gospel Sing-along” from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Assembly of God Church Auditorium, 478 Wade St.

Everyone is invited to the performance.

UpRiver Dulcimer Group

The UpRiver Dulcimer Group plays Appalachian, or mountain music, from 6:30-8 p.m. the first and third Monday of every month at the Spiral Gallery, 341 S. Broadway St. The group is made up of local musicians who perform at events and centers around the area.

Quilt club meets

The Skip-a-Week Quilt Club meets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday at the Garfield Grange on Divers Road. For more information, call Ruth at 503-630-4669.

Spinning group

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.


30-year High School Reunion fundraiser

A 30-year high school reunion is planned for Estacada High School’s class of 1984 Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 9-10. Event organizers hope to earn enough money so that ‘84 grads may attend the weekend of activities for free.

A series of fundraisers will be held to work toward this goal. The first, a Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament, will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Odd Fellows Hall. It’s a $50 buy-in, and players will start with 20,000 in chips. The game goes on until there is a winner. There will also be a silent auction. Grief Share

The Grief Share group helps those who have lost a loved one find comfort and acceptance and to find the joy that remains in their lives. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. The group now meets from 2-3:30 p.m., Mondays at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church. For more information, call 503-630-5484.
