Pedestrian Safety Town Hall

Becky Ginsbach of the Estacada Eagle will host a Town Hall meeting on pedestrian safety from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Estacada Fire Department. All ages are invited to join in the discussion of viable options to increase pedestrian safety and awareness in Estacada.


Second Friday

The Spiral Gallery is temporarily closed due to renovations. It will reopen Friday, April 11. Nevertheless, a group show celebrating renewal, recycling, rebirth, repurpose and renovation will be featured throughout April. An art reception will be held 5- 8:30 p.m., April 11. The gallery is at 341 South Broadway.

Flea Market and Craft Sale

There will be a flea market and craft sale 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 11-12, at the Eagle Creek Grange, 24491 Eagle Creek Road. Vendor table spots are available for $6. Gathering UFO’s

Bring your unfinished sewing project to finish in good company during Debbie’s UnFinished Objects (UFO’s) class 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Wade Creek House, 664 N.W. Wade St. The class costs $5.

Blues workshops with Ellen Whyte

Singer/songwriter Ellen Whyte is offering three blues workshops in Estacada from 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays, April 15, 22 and 29, in the Flora Room of the Estacada Public Library. Whyte will offer instruction on the blues genre, vocal techniques, dynamics, phrasing and projection and will demonstrate blues singing styles. Participants will have the opportunity to select a song or two to learn to perform. No experience necessary. There is a $5 suggested donation. Author Reading

Meet local author Stacia Hannum at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Flora Room of the Estacada Public Library. Hannum will discuss her book “Lions of Clackamas.” The book is a collection of anecdotes of colorful, unconventional mentors who have influenced Hannum’s life.

Plant sale

The Estacada Garden Club will hold a plant sale fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Estacada Public Library. Club members will sell plants from their gardens to raise money for the nonprofit club. Coffee and baked goods will also be sold.

Quilt club meets

The Skip-a-Week Quilt Club meets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday at the Garfield Grange on Divers Road. For more information, call Ruth at 503-630-4669.

Spinning group

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.


Calligraphy Project

The William Stafford Calligraphy Project exhibit of Stafford’s calligraphic renderings, poems and writings will be on display at the Estacada Public Library from May 7 through June 4.

The exhibit will be traveling throughout Oregon in 2014 in honor of Stafford’s 100th birthday.

Stafford is a former poet-laureate of Oregon. The show is presented by the Portland Society for Calligraphy. Computer tutorials

The Estacada Public Library offers weekly computer tutorials on computer skills such as how to use email, Microsoft Word, social media, online security, eReaders, etc. Half-hour tutorials may be scheduled between 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays. Chicken Chat & Coop Tour 4-H Fundraiser

Learn about all things poultry Saturday, April 12, at the Wade Creek House. Master Poultry Women Mary and Nona Shearer and their 4-H kids will discuss raising chickens, the equipment needed, the breeds best suited for your backyard and tips on raising and handling chickens from 9-10 a.m. The Chicken Chat costs $5. For an additional $5 you’ll get a map so that you can take yourself on a tour of local countryside coops.

Grief Share

The Grief Share group helps those who have lost a loved one find comfort and acceptance and to find the joy that remains in their lives. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. AA offers hope

Al-Anon and Alateen

Al-Anon and Alateen meetings are available just a 20-minute drive from Estacada at Eastridge Church, 14100 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas. Alateen meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday. In honor of Alcohol Awareness Month, throughout April, Al-Anon Newcomers meetings will be held 6 p.m. Mondays at the New Seasons Community Room in the Happy Valley Town Center at 162nd Avenue and Sunnyside Road in Happy Valley.
