Gallery shares Valentine's Day gifts
Like many people, members of the Spiral Gallery will celebrate Valentine's Day this month. What's unique about their celebration is that it will feature a variety of one-of-kind art pieces.
The gallery's group show "All You Need is Love" will be featured this month. A reception for the show will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at the gallery, 341 Broadway St.
The show features work from a variety of artists at the gallery.
"We often do a group show in February if no one wants to do their own show," said Jami Berry, the gallery's founder. "Everyone participates. It's fun."
The show will include many different art pieces, including cotton bags, heart dishes and paintings.
"Karl (Haugen) created a watercolor painting with a house in a meadow, and the house has heart decorations," Berry said.
Valentine's Day cards will also be featured in the show.
"It's a good place to get your cards," Berry said.
Berry added that the show is filled with items that would make good gifts for Valentine's Day. Unlike other shows at the gallery, this time attendees can take a piece home right after they buy it, rather than waiting until the end of the show.
Berry sees value in art as a gift, for Valentine's Day or other occasions.
"No one else has the same thing," she said. "(The show) is great for gifts. There's lots of great stuff."
She encouraged those interested to shop by the show early while everything is still available.
"A lot of us like to see what the others made. We're probably our best buyers," Berry said. "If something is really cool, I buy it and keep it and then get (the person I'm shopping for) something else."
She's looking forward to sharing the show with the community.
"I like to see who comes in and buys what," she said. "People are so happy when they find a treasure."
