Fabric is the focus of two new exhibits at Clackamas Community College's Alexander Gallery.

From Monday, Feb. 12, through Friday, March 23, the gallery will feature the work of two Portland-based artists, Junko Iijima and Erica Hanson. Both artists' work was supported by the Regional Arts and Culture Council of Oregon.

Hansen's exhibit, titled "The Unseen World," uses sewn and collaged imagery on vintage linen to highlight mythological, spiritual, religious and cultural archetypes.

Iijima is an art instructor at the college. Her exhibit, "Ruffle Pit," combines fabric and lumber to explore the concepts of femininity, comfort and protection.

A reception for both exhibits will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in the Alexander Gallery at the college's Oregon City Campus, 19600 Molalla Ave. The artists will discuss their work at 1 p.m.
