Estacada venue will highlight paintings from Earlean Marsh through the end of this month

Plants and animals will make their way over to the Spiral Gallery this month.

Earlean Marsh's show "Petals and Paws" features paintings of both subjects. Marsh said there are 20 pieces in the show.

One of her favorite paintings depicts a friend's dachshund.

"It's important to see the animal instead of relying on photos," Marsh said. "My friend brought the dog into the Book Nook when I was volunteering, and I saw its personality. It's important to get good light on the animal, and get some good expressions."

She noted that classes and group meetings being canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted her art.

"I didn't paint for months. My heart wasn't in it," she said. "I usually go to groups and paint. It's like exercise. I know all the moves, but it's easier to do them in a group. There's a discipline about having an assigned time, and it's good to see other people's work and get feedback. You enjoy being with the group."

Marsh included a guest book with her show at the gallery at 341 S. Broadway St. that visitors can sign.

"I hope my paintings give other people the visual enjoyment of seeing something," she said.
