The latest show at the Spiral Gallery features stones from across the globe.

Tacy Jones has created a variety of jewelry from rocks for her show "Just a Stone's Throw Away," which will hang in the gallery at 341 S. Broadway St. during September.

"I use stones from all over the world," she said.

The show features jewelry with rocks from places like Tanzania, Norway, Canada, Afghanistan, Utah and Oregon.

"A lot of stone that I like comes from Madagascar," Jones added. "There are also a lot of cool stones from Utah and Nevada."

"Just a Stone's Throw Away" includes pieces Jones created within the last several months. In many cases, the slabs of stone the earrings and necklaces were created from are displayed next to the finished pieces.

Jones' favorite piece in the show is a necklace made from variscite from Utah. She named that and two other pieces "The Hibiscus Collection" because of the way they resemble that flower.

Jones enjoys sharing her knowledge of stones with others, and the show also includes educational books and posters. The gallery will not host its usual First Friday gathering because of rising COVID-19 cases, but Jones hopes people still take the time to learn about the stones in the show.

"It's difficult because I can't see people to tell them about the rocks," she said. "I really like stones, and talking about my fascination with them."
