The Estacada boys soccer team struck quickly on its way to a 7-2 win over Sutherlin to start the season Tuesday afternoon.

The Rangers went up 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the season when Caleb Brotnov won a header off a Sutherlin goal kick, pushing the ball ahead for teammate Raymond Garcia, who outpaced a pair of blue shirts and finished off a breakaway chance with a low roller to the far post.

Brotnov converted a similar chance in the 26th minute to push the Rangers to a 3-1 lead.

Sutherlin had a chance to make it a one-goal game after being awarded a penalty shot late in the first half, but the attempt sailed high over the top-right corner.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at the Roseburg-area school, but poor air quality from forest fires in that part of the state resulted in a switch of the game site to Buzz Randall Stadium.

The Rangers are next in action at home at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Redmond.
