Estacada takes down Elmira 68-57

ESTACADA — With only two returners from last year's team, Estacada doesn't really have a go-to-guy. So it made sense for them to spread the wealth when it came to scoring.
Eli Crombie, Calvin Dryden, Nick Keller and Gabriel Martinez were all in double-figures for the Rangers, helping Estacada beat Elmira 68-57 for their first win of the year on Friday night.
"They played hard as a team," Estacada head coach Kelly Norman said about his squad. "We were committed to playing defense and pushing the tempo on (Elimira)."
Crombie, a freshman, provided the biggest offensive spark for the Rangers, pouring in 15 points off the bench and hitting all three of his 3-pointers.
"I was just able to find some soft spots in the defense and move without the ball," Crombie said. "We spread the floor really well and my teammates set good off-ball screens so that I could get open off of those."
Crombie hit back-to-back triples in his first minute of action, leading Estacada on an 8-2 run which tied the game at 14 at the end of one period.
Even though they were keeping the game close, Estacada was struggling in their half-court defense as they were giving up some wide open looks to the Falcons. Norman recognized this and decided to put a full-court press on Elmira.
The move paid dividends for the Rangers.
