Estacada (9-8) | 1 |
GLADSTONE — Estacada's baseball team finished the week Friday with an 8-1 loss to No. 5-ranked Gladstone, which remains undefeated in league play.
The Rangers kept it close early when Mateo Burgos got on base with a walk, stole around to third and got a free pass home when an errant throw went out of play.
After retiring the side in order in the bottom of the second inning, the Rangers found themselves within 2-1 on the scoreboard.
But Gladstone stretched its lead with two in the third and four more in the fifth to take command 8-1.
Estacada gave the Gladiators a scare earlier in the week before falling 1-0 on a run in the second inning.
Estacada (9-8) hosts Crook County at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Those teams are tied for third place in the Tri-Valley Conference with Monday's winner gaining the inside track for a 4A qualifier spot.
