Errors doom Estacada
Senior American JBO
After grabbing an early lead against Oregon City, basically everything went wrong for the Estacada Senior American JBO squad.
The Rangers made five errors in the top of the third inning and three more in the fourth as Oregon City scored 14 unanswered runs to defeat Estacada 15-2 in five innings on Tuesday.
"We're just really frustrated," Estacada head coach John James said. "They're 12 and 13 year old kids, I get it, but we are making mistakes that we just don't normally make. I don't know if it's the summer getting to them, but the mistakes that we are making are silly."
Both squads brought a run home in the first inning, but Estacada got on top 2-1 in the bottom of the second when Carson Emerson knocked in James Durand from third with a RBI-single to right field.
Estacada starter Cory James gave up a run in the first inning, but pitched a scoreless frame in the top of the second. However, the young right-hander would get no help from his defense in the third inning as Estacada's five errors in the frame led to eight Oregon City runs.
"I know it was tough for the kids when it kept snowballing and that I think that led to a lot of mental errors," John James said. "Cory thew well in the first two innings, but I think he tried to get a little to fancy in that third inning and we didn't make plays for him."
