Tri-Valley all-star basketball teams, College Hoops reader contest and Northwest JC playoffs

Calvin Dryden named to second team

Estacada High senior Calvin Dryden earned a spot on the Tri-Valley Conference second-team in boys basketball, while Nick Keller and Cody Syring were named to the honorable-mention squad.

North Marion swept the awards with junior Sergio Jimenez voted Player of the Year, and Tully Wagner being named Coach of the Year.

On the girls side, Estacada's Izzy Hagel, Rylie Canifax and Chloe Porter were named to the honorable mention squad.

Hannah Williams leads Estacada riders

Hannah Williams tallied 50 points across the timed events to lead Estacada at a Northeast Region equestrian meet earlier this month. Her best finish was a third place in Pole Bending.

McKenna Neldner came in third in Working Rancher among the judged events.

Newspaper hosts March Madness contest

The Estacada News is sponsoring an online-only NCAA men's basketball bracket contest with the winner picking up a year's subscription to the newspaper and $25 cash.

Clackamas drops out in first round

The Clackamas Community College men's basketball team dropped a 105-68 decision to North Idaho in the first round of the Northwest playoffs last week. Clay Sullivan sank five 3-pointers and led the Cougars with 19 points, while Adam Gehrig added 17 points and eight rebounds.

The Clackamas women's team dropped a 71-46 decision to Wenatchee Valley, losing touch after being outscored by 14 points in the third quarter. C.J. Buckley led the Cougars with 18 points and three steals.
