The Estacada boys soccer team wore out the nets on its way to a 12-0 win over Banks in last week's season opener.

The Rangers came out firing from the kickoff with three quick shots in the game's opening stages. One attempt curved wide of the mark, another dinged the side post, and a penalty shot deflected off the goalie's hands and careened off the cross bar.

The near misses soon came to an end, as Estacada put persistent pressure on the goal.

In the game's seventh minute, Raymond Garcia ran onto a throw-in, dribbled across the field and sent a ball ahead to Skyler Ramirez, who beat the keeper with a waist-high shot to the near side of the net.

A few minutes later, Garcia put a shot of his own on target, lifting a free kick from 40 yards out that tipped off the goalie's extended hands and hopped into the net.

"Our players got themselves in good position and controlled the midfield, and our strikers were able to get on the end of some balls," Estacada coach Jack Carroll said.

Garcia would strike twice more in the early going, taking a sidewinder kick out of midair to beat the keeper far post, and not long after cutting to the middle of the 18-yard box and putting a bouncer through the goalie's legs.

Niko Snyder also got into the early scoring action by running onto a long ball played out of the defensive end. He raced past the last defender and beat the goalie with a low roller.

The Rangers were in charge 5-0 midway through the first half.

Garcia finished with five goals and three assists before being pulled partway through the second half. Ramirez also notched a hat trick, while Snyder scored twice. Carson Eaton and Tai Shibahara also found the net.

"It took us a long time to get our first win last year, so getting one early gives us some confidence," Carroll said. "We couldn't ask for much more in our opener, but there is still work to do."
