Estacada girls race to second place
The Estacada girls cross country team finished second out of five complete teams at the Aloha Classic on Friday.
The Rangers packed their entire scoring five into the top-20 overall to finish with 59 points — 22 ahead of Riverdale in the race for second place. Estacada also came in almost 50 points ahead of Tri-Valley foe Molalla.
Rookie Heather Shaver led the Rangers in ninth place overall, covering the 5K course in 22:08.4, followed by Megan Holmes in 13th at 23:13.8.
Estacada's support pack of Faith Grainger, Kaitlin Willis and Julia Griffith all came through the finish line barely half-a-minute apart.
The host Warriors, a 6A school, won the race with a perfect 15 points.
Estacada finished sixth out of eight complete teams in the boys race with 131 points. Dakota Glover led the way in 14th place overall with a time of 18:02.2, while Mason Bouck also broke the 19-minute barrier and placed 26th.
The Rangers are next in action at the Tri-Valley Conference championships hosted at McIver Park on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
