Football team advances to 4A bracket
Estacada's football team scored a 52-6 win over Sweet Home in Friday's qualifier game. The Rangers averaged a first down every time they handed the ball off, piling up 514 rushing yards in the win. Jake Behrman led the way with 218 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns — the longest coming from 61 yards out.
Quarterback Isaiah Schaffer carried 11 times for 95 yards and found the end zone four times.
Estacada (6-3), one of four Tri-Valley teams in the playoffs, travels to No. 3-ranked La Grande (8-0) for a 7 p.m. first-round game Friday.
Boys soccer finishes with a win
The Estacada boys soccer team wrapped up its season with its only win of the Tri-Valley season, traveling to Madras and picking up a 5-2 decision. Raymond Garcia scored three times and assisted Niko Snyder on the other two goals. The Rangers put up the first three goals of the game.
"It was a great way to send off our seniors, and a performance which we felt we were close to all season," Rangers coach Jack Carroll said.
The Estacada girls also picked up their only league win 1-0 last week against Madras.
