Ranger junior Heather Shaver led the way at the Estacada Invite; Cardinal Colby Cook takes seventh in the boys race

The Estacada girls runners claimed victory in their home meet last week as Tri-Valley Conference runners from across the region made their way to Milo McIver State Park for a cross country meet.

The Estacada Invite, held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 13, featured local competitors from both the host Rangers and Corbett High School.

The highlight for the home school was junior Heather Shaver, who led the Rangers to a victory in the girls varsity race with 20 points. Shaver crossed the line in 20:58.40, while her sophomore teammate Scottie Weiler took fifth (23:16.50).

For the Corbett girls, a pair of sophomores placed eighth and ninth — Ava Horton (23:41.90) and Malena Mayell (23:45.60).

The top three individual finishers in the boys race were all from Ridgefield — junior Liam Rapp won (18:08.90) followed by freshman Jack Radosevich (18:12.30) and senior Daniel Zimmer (18:15.80).

Cardinal Colby Cook, a sophomore, finished seventh (18:27.00). The top Ranger runner was junior Lliam Baird, who placed ninth (18:33.90).

The next big meet for both Estacada and Corbett is the 4A-2 Tri-Valley Conference Championships Wednesday, Oct. 27.
