Estacada girls cross country claims conference championship
The Estacada girls cross country team are the 2021 conference champions after cruising across the finish line in dominant fashion earlier this week.
The Ranger girls had three runners in the top 10 as they easily claimed the 4A Tri-Valley Conference Championship trophy Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Milo McIver State Park.
The overall winner was Estacada junior Heather Shaver, who crossed the line with a personal-best 20:34.50. The other Rangers top performers were sophomore Scottie Weiler (fourth — 22:58.10) and senior Kaitlin Willis (10th — 24:42.30).
The Estacada girls won the 5,000-meter varsity race with 26 points, followed by Corbett (41 points) and Gladstone (56). The Cardinals had two runners in the top-10 with personal best times — sophomore Malena Mayell (fifth — 23:21.00) and sophomore Ava Horton (seventh — 23:27.90).
For the boys varsity 5,000-meters, Molalla won the meet (49 points), followed by North Marion (51) and Estacada (72). Corbett finished fourth just two points behind.
The top Rangers runner was junior Lliam Baird (second — 18:22.30), while the top finisher for the Cardinals was junior Jackson Minsker (11th — 19:29.70).
The OSAA 4A State Cross Country Championships will be held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 6, at Lane Community College.
