Estacada girls tennis advance after District Tourney kickoff
Estacada girls tennis placed fifth during the opening day of the 4A Special District 2 Tournament, with multiple athletes advancing on to the championship bracket that will be played in Salem later this week.
In the singles bracket, Gracie Jossi won two matches to move on. First she beat Madison Polard, of Sisters, 8-4 in round one, and then swept K Smith, of North Marion, in two 6-0 sets.
In the doubles bracket two Rangers teams are moving on.
Maria Portillo de Mueller and Ana Garica Munoz had a bye in the first round, and then defeated a North Marion squad of T. Christenson and Z. Diaz in a pair of sets. Following their success, Estacada's Jazyme Seely and Ava Turner beat a North Marion team of Vanessa Mariscal and Yadira Romero 8-5 in round one, before beating Stayton's Aunika Thiessen and Lorelei Ritchie in two sets to advance.
