Event typically draws crowds to downtown for art, music and many other activities

In July, Broadway Street in downtown Estacada is typically home to an upbeat gathering of community members engaging in art activities, enjoying live music and learning circus skills.

However, this year the annual Summer Celebration will not take place because of the COVID-19 outbreak. PMG FILE PHOTO - Community members usually paint a labyrinth in downtown Estacada every year during the Summer Celebration.

"The main reason (for the cancelation) is that it's such a mass of people doing art, buying things and dancing. We wouldn't be able to social distance, even with small groups of people," said Jane Reid, founder of the Summer Celebration.

The Summer Celebration is not the first event in Estacada to be canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Several weeks ago, organizers of Estacada Uncorked announced that the annual food and drink focused gathering would not take place this year.

"We're looking forward to planning a great 2021 event," Reid said, discussing next year's Summer Celebration.
