Timber Park and Promontory Park tentatively scheduled to open on Friday, May 22, PGE leaders say

PMG FILE PHOTO - Families will tentatively be able to fish at Small Fry Lake again later this month.

Parks operated by Portland General Electric are tentatively scheduled to open later this month.

The company operates 14 parks and recreation areas across the state, including Timber Park, Promontory Park and Lake Harriet Campground in the Estacada area.

The closure of PGE's recreation facilities was announced on March 23 and was initially scheduled through at least May 8. The new opening date of May 22 will be evaluated as needed.

"The company is aligning its plans with operators of other nearby local, state and federal recreation areas, to support gradual, safe easing of mandatory public physical distancing orders issued to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus," PGE leaders wrote in a press release.

Reservations for campgrounds are available at some parks for dates after May 22, though they are subject to cancellation if the closures are extended. For more information, visit Portlandgeneral.com/parks.
