It's coming, the most wonderful time of the year, with egg nog and Hallmark movies and massive feasts. How do you avoid becoming the abdominal snowman during the holiday season?

Keep moving. Continue your fitness classes and workouts at The Gym. You will feel less stress and sleep better. Head out for a walk after a big meal or do squats while you watch the game on TV.

Save room for dessert. Eat smaller amounts now for a treat later. This applies to holiday parties too. Eat less for lunch so you can indulge (a little) at dinner.

Wear formfitting clothes. When that waistband starts to dig in it's time for you to do less digging in.

Avoid alcohol (empty calories) and drink more water. Alcohol lowers your inhibitions so you will eat more or say something stupid. Both are to be avoided. Water is better.

Remember to enjoy the holidays. One day of overindulging won't make or break your fitness plan. Just get back to it tomorrow. And don't let those treats hang around in the house to tempt you. Dump the junk!

A gift membership is a great way to help your family and friends get fit, have fun and learn something new at The Gym. Maybe you can all workout together!

Be the Gingershred man this holiday season. Stop in and see Nate and the crew at The Gym for more help rocking around the fitness tree.
