E-Bikes and Henry Hagg Lake
Lots of folks have been to Henry Hagg Lake in western Washington county in the summer. Sunshine, blue water and, maybe, a lot of people. It's beautiful and worth the visit.
But the lake in the winter, that is altogether different.
It is quiet. Hear the wind in the trees, the waves hissing on to the shore and the geese honking overhead. Riding an E-bike around the lake allows you to hear the sounds of nature that are hard to hear in a car or over the boats and cars and motorcycles that frequent the park in the summer.
It is uncrowded. There is plenty of parking, the garbage cans aren't overflowing and there is no wait for anything anywhere. You will enjoy riding that E-Bike around the lake unworried about traffic or pedestrians stepping out in front of you. You may have to stop for deer or cute little chipmunks.
It is beautiful. You will feel like you are in a Christmas card with the snow on the hills and trees. The air is clear and cold and you can fill your lungs with the pure scent of evergreens, not exhaust. Stop your E-Bike at a scenic spot and just take in all the beauty that western Oregon is famous for. Bring out the picnic basket and thermos of hot cocoa and make an occasion of it. Or open a bottle of Pinot Noir from any of the local wineries and charm your companion.
