We are still in phase 1, it looks like the kids won't be going back to school in September and we all have cabin fever. Let's get out of the house and learn something!
Museums are great for families and we are fortunate to be close to many excellent ones in our area. A few of the best are listed below.
The Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals outside of Hillsboro is open by appointment Friday through Sunday from 12- 5. See all the fabulous displays while staying safe. You can make an appointment by going to their website at ricenorthwestmuseum.org and choosing Visit. Masks are required.
The Oregon Historical Society Museum in Portland is open every day but Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are exhibits about the Portland Timbers, the 100th Anniversary of Women gaining the right to vote, local history and more. Social distancing and masks are required. Their website at ohs.org has all the details.
OMSI in Portland is open Monday through Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm for a limited number of visitors to see "Body Worlds & The Cycle of Life" and the USS Blueback Submarine. The last entry for "Body Worlds" will be at 6 pm and the last submarine tour at 6:10 pm. OMSI recommends purchasing tickets and parking online before you visit or call 503-797-4000.
