The staff at Scotties Auto Body wishes you the happiest of holidays and thanks you for your continued support in 2020.

While Scotties has the best estimator and shop in the area, we would prefer that you not require our services due to an accident caused by distracted driving. It is so easy to become distracted while driving; kids fussing in the back, beautiful Christmas lights that need to be looked and worst of all, a text message.

2.5 million people are in automobile accidents every year and distracted driving is the leading cause. Research has shown that multitasking is a myth. You are not doing 2 things at once, you are switching back and forth very quickly between 2 tasks. When you attempt to multitask while driving your eye activity slows down and problem-solving skills are diminished.

Texting and driving is 6 times as likely to cause an accident as drunk driving. That is an amazing statistic and should cause us to think pretty hard about texting while driving. We may think we are just glancing at our phone but It takes 13 seconds to refocus on the road after looking at your phone.

Cell phone use is not the only cause of distracted driving. Eating while driving is riskier than talking on a cell phone. Not only do you have just one hand on the wheel, but a spilt coffee or mustard leaking on your pants will cause you to focus elsewhere.

Don't let distracted driving cause an accident in 2021. Stay safe.
