The coronavirus outbreak is a challenging time for already stressed caregivers. Fear, anxiety and self-isolation can cause strong or overwhelming emotions and even depression. To protect your health and overall well-being, taking care of your mental health has become even more essential.
Maintaining a regular daily routine can help by providing structure and stability. You probably already have one because you're caring for someone who needs one but keep your own routine.
As tempting as it is, this is not the time to eat a lot of chocolate or drink extra wine. Eat healthy meals with plenty of vegetables and whole grains. Take little breaks during the day to have a drink of water and a healthy snack where you can be alone. That could be your room, the bathroom, the car or just outside your front door. I t will provide a nice pause and give you something to look forward to.
Give yourself a break. The COVID-19 pandemic is a stressful time and has forced major lifestyle changes on everyone. You're human and you're taking on a lot right now, both physically and emotionally.
