The sun is shining, get out of the house! Visit someone, take a scenic tour and be sure your car is ready to go. Don't let car trouble ruin your trip. Perform some maintenance before you go to be certain your car is up to the trip. Here are some tips to keep your car running smoothly.

Check the battery: Be sure the connections are tight and corrosion-free.

Inspect belts and hoses: No fraying, or slack in the belts and no cracks or drips in the hoses.

Top off fluids and replace filters: Check and fill oil, power steering, windshield and transmission fluids and coolant. Check and replace the air filter if necessary.

Check the brakes and inspect the tires: If your brakes are squealing or the pedal feels spongy when you press it, have your brakes checked before you go. Check tire pressure and condition of the tread. If there is uneven wear you may need your tires rotated or an alignment before you leave.

Don't forget some housekeeping chores: Empty the wastebasket or get a wastebasket and vacuum. Clean the windshield, because those smears are a killer in the sunshine.

Taking steps to ensure your car is in good condition prior to a road trip can help you avoid spending your vacation in a repair shop. If your car needs some repairs before you set out give Scotties Auto Body a call. They will fix your car so you can travel worry free.
