Accidents happen. If you have never been in one before it can be unsettling, and you may not know what to do. Scotties Auto Body has this advice if you have been in a collision.

If one of the vehicles is leaking fluids or someone has been injured, call 911.

If not, make sure the vehicles are moved off the road and exchange information. This means a driver's license number, license plate number, name, address, phone number and insurance company and policy number.

Use your phone to take photos of your car, their car, their license and insurance information. This way you'll have all the information in one place and won't forget anything. It will be easy to forward everything to the correct person quickly and accurately.

If the collision is their fault, call their insurance company. If it is your fault, call your insurance company. If you are fortunate enough to be insured by a company that lists Scotties as one of their direct repair shops, Scotties will write your estimate, schedule your repairs, schedule the rental car and do everything that needs to be done. If you aren't, Scotties can still write an estimate and email it to the insurance company.

Scotties Auto Body can handle all your collision repair needs. If you have any questions about estimates or what to do after a collision, call Scotties at 503-648-4275. Scotties has been taking care of collisions in Hillsboro since 1957.
