COURTESY PHOTO - Trail Blazers personalities will visit Forest Grove schools Thursday before a community celebration in downtown. Calling all Portland Trail Blazers fans!


Blazers mascot Blaze the Trail Cat, BlazerDancers members, and broadcasters Kevin Calabro, Brian Wheeler, Lamar Hurd and Brooke Olzendam will join Forest Grove Mayor Pete Truax for a full day of Blazer fun this Thursday, Sept. 22, as part of the fourth annual Rip City Relay.

The Trail Blazer personalities have visited more than 20 communities all across Oregon the last three years to engage with excited Trail Blazers basketball fans. Forest Grove is one of this year's four stops, which include Astoria, Seaside and Salem.

The Blazers representatives will host a basketball clinic at Neil Armstrong Middle School at 8:40 a.m. Thursday. Camp coaches will take over physical education classes, teaching local children to play like the professionals.

Next, the Blazer family is heading to Harvey Clarke Elementary School for an afternoon assembly with fanfare and fun.

Mayor Truax will join the Blazer representatives at 21st Avenue and Main Street for a community flag raising at 4 p.m. Following that, community members are invited to gather from 4 to 6 p.m. at 21st Avenue and Main Street to play basketball with the Blazer personalities, take a photo with the 1977 Blazers championship trophy, and get a chance to win game tickets and other prizes.
