Police found city of Forest Grove truck allegedly stolen by 19-year-old man Aug. 5 near Talisman Park

Bernabe-HernandezA city of Forest Grove truck stolen Friday, Aug. 4, at Talisman Park near Willamina Avenue was recovered in downtown Portland the next day.

According to Forest Grove police, Jose Manuel Bernabe-Hernandez, 19, allegedly approached a city employee Aug. 4, asking about employment before running to the vehicle and speeding away. Bernabe-Hernandez was later seen near Verboort Road and Highway 47, driving recklessly and crossing into traffic, police said.

Officers identified a passenger in the vehicle as 19-year-old Jonathan Varona-Nieto.

Portland Police Bureau officers recovered the white 2016 F-250 near Second Avenue and Alder Street in Portland Saturday, Aug. 5. The keys were missing but the vehicle was not damaged.

As of Monday night, Bernabe-Hernandez was in custody at the Washington County Jail, according to Forest Grove Police Capt. Mike Herb.
