Pacific University offers conference for girls ages 12 to 15 to discuss issues many young women face today

             Pacific University's Center for Gender Equity and the American Association of University Women are sponsoring the 13th annual "Girls Today" conference for girls aged 12 to 15. It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Old College Hall, 2021 College Way, Friday, Oct. 13, a no-school day in the K-12 system.

The teens will be able to spend time with college students, visit a dorm room and discuss issues relevant to girls in today's world, with help from trained facilitators.

The workshop will include an opening session, a forum about college, small group sessions on specific issues, a self-defense class, campus tour, and free "Girls Today" T-shirts.

There will be an optional parents meeting from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. in Old College Hall, where the coordinator of the psychology team will describe the conference in more detail and talk about its benefits.
