NEWS-TIMES PHOTO: CHRISTOPHER OERTELL - A dump truck incident took out five utility poles in Cornelius Monday morning.A dump truck crashed into utility poles in Cornelius late Monday morning, Oct. 6, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies said five poles came down at North Fourth Avenue and Holladay Street around 11 a.m., including one light pole. Traffic was being diverted, and a road closure is in effect until 8 p.m.

Deputies said damage to the utility poles and city property could reach $100,000.
