Adelante Mujeres sponsors a meet-and-greet with its farmers; Dairy Creek Community Food Web sponsors food swap in Foret Grove

Forest Grove nonprofit Adelante Mujeres is hosting a free Meet Your Farmer event in Gales Creek Saturday, Oct. 14.

The family-friendly potluck event features music, activities and the chance to learn about sustainable agriculture and swap recipes while mingling with Adelante Mujeres farmers. Attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite dish.

The event will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at Rancho Del Rio in Gales Creek. The address will be provided during the registration process. Register at

In addition, local nonprofit Dairy Creek Community Food Web will host its second annual Fall Harvest and Food Swap Tuesday, Oct. 24. The event will be held 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Bede's Episcopal Church, 1609 Elm St. in Forest Grove.

Local residents are welcome to bring anything they've made, baked, canned, dried or pickled to the event and trade for other goods, said DCCFW member Robin Lindsley.

Most of the traded items were canned goods at last year's event, Lindsley said, but a wide variety of goods are welcome. Last year, Lindsley brought home-baked cookies and left with a variety of local jellies, jams and syrups.
