The public is invited to a community meeting Thursday night to discuss a new business coming into town

The president of MGC Pure Chemicals America (MPCA) and three of his top staff will offer a presentation and address questions from the public at an open house in Forest Grove Thursday, Nov. 30, from 6:45 to 8 p.m. in the Community Auditorium, 1915 Main St.

MPCA plans to build a manufacturing plant on 19 acres of industrial-zoned property on the east side of Elm Street, south of the railroad tracks. The project will go through the city's usual land-use and planning review process.

The plant will produce super-pure hydrogen peroxide — a cleaning product used for semiconductor applications that require stripping, etching and cleaning of silicon wafers — and is expected to open in 2019.

While the plant will need 20 to 25 employees to start, it expects to expand and add more jobs down the road.
