Gaston High School begins homecoming celebrations
Gaston High School's Mardi Gras themed homecoming festivities are underway this week, beginning Monday, Sept. 24.
This year's homecoming court includes Elizabeth Unger and Max Fox, Morgan Johnson and Blake McDevitt, Sequoia Nelson and Riley Marshall, Amia Gabriel and Jeremy Spidal, and Brooke Jordan and Derek Guerrero.
The students selected to the court were surprised with the news during their fifth-period Monday classes. They were then treated to a special lunch that included homemade cinnamon rolls.
On Tuesday, Sept. 25, the homecoming court will be recognized during a school assembly, and the couples will compete against each other in relay games. The entire school will then vote for king and queen following the assembly.
On Wednesday, Sept. 26, the school will host the coronation in the new gymnasium at 7 p.m., where the student body will find out who this year's king and queen are.
The homecoming football game will be held at the high school this Friday, Sept. 28, against Nestucca Valley High School. The court will be announced Friday night and alumni recognized.
The festivities will conclude with the homecoming dance in the school's cafeteria on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 7 to 10 p.m.
