Tom McCall student says stranger told him: 'Get in the car!'
A student at Tom McCall Elementary School in Forest Grove said a stranger attempted to offer them a ride early Tuesday morning, Jan. 22, according to the Forest Grove School District.
A letter sent out to families from superintendent Dave Parker following the alleged incident said the student reported a "shorter, Hispanic male
wearing a black beanie and riding in a dark colored Honda with two other individuals" asked if he wanted a ride to school while he was waiting for the bus in the 3200 block of 22nd Avenue.
When the student refused a ride, the individual reportedly stated, 'Get in the car!' Parker wrote in the letter. The student then said 'no' and ran back to his home to inform his family. The situation was immediately reported to the Forest Grove Police Department, he said.
"The purpose of this communication is to inform you that this incident took place and to remind students and families to be vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to law enforcement," Parker wrote. "Also, please take this time to speak with your student to remind them what to do if they encounter any suspicious activity."
