The annual winter cleaning party at the visitor center for the Tillamook State Forest is Saturday, Feb. 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The center is located at 45500 Wilson River Highway, about a half-hour's drive west of Banks.

During the winter months, from December through February, the Tillamook Forest Center is closed to visitors. The center hosts a cleaning event every year to get ready for its spring season, which begins March 1.

Volunteers are needed to perform general clean-up, including cleaning exhibits, as well as some inventory tasks, such as tagging items for sale in the gift shop.

Anyone age 12 and older who can follow directions, lift up to 10 pounds, bend down and work in a group is invited to volunteer. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring a sack lunch.

Registration is required. Volunteers can register by calling 503-815-6803.
