The 15 finalists will be narrowed down by popular votes, which can be cast online.

Local nonprofit Adelante Mujeres is a finalist for a prestigious national 'Renewal Award' competition by The Atlantic news magazine and Allstate Insurance.

Adelante was selected from 9,300 nominations as one of just 15 finalists across the country. The nonprofit, which works to provide education and empowerment opportunities to Latina women and families, has worked with thousands of Latino families across Washington County since its foundation.

The 15 finalists will be narrowed down to five Renewal Award winners by popular vote. Winners will receive $20,000 in funding from Allstate and one of the winners will be presented with the Allstate Youth Empowerment Award.

"Now in its fourth year, this nationwide competition was created to celebrate the social innovation demonstrated by thousands of nonprofits that are finding creative solutions to America's most pressing problems," according to The Atlantic. "The Renewal Awards recognizes these organizations and individuals as they drive positive change in their communities—and helps them make an even bigger impact."

To vote, visit between Monday, Feb. 11, to Friday, March 1.
