The city of Cornelius is hosting a city-wide clean up on Saturday, May 18, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and is looking for a few volunteers.

Meeting in the Cornelius Fred Meyer parking lot, 2200 East Baseline St., volunteers will be assigned to community service projects across the community. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

In addition to picking up trash from public areas, volunteers can plant flowers, load wheel barrows and spread bark dust at Cornelius area parks and city hall.

After participants finish their work assignments, members of the Cornelius Fire Department will cook and serve a free hot dog lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Harleman Park for volunteers. As a special bonus, there will be a few gift cards given out for those that stay for lunch, according to the city of Cornelius.
