Fish for free June 1-2
Hagg Lake will have free fishing opportunities on Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2. No licenses or tags are required; all other fishing regulations apply, including closures, bag limits and size restrictions.
I'm Hooked Inc. will host celebrations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days for families at its 30th annual Make a Reel Difference Day. Community mentors will help guide youth to learn fishing. Lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and there will be live music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. To learn more, visit imhookedinc.org.
The first weekend in June has long offered free fishing in Oregon. Oregon State Parks also are free for visitors that weekend, with free parking on the same days and with free camping only on Saturday. There also is free crabbing and clamming at select locations around the state.
ODFW and volunteer fishing instructors, state parks and other partners will host fishing events statewide that weekend, bringing all the gear new anglers need (rods, reels, bait) to try angling.
