COURTESY MAP: WASHINGTON COUNTY - The green dotted line indicates the detour route around the closure of Southwest Vanderschuere Road, which is scheduled to begin Monday, July 22.From Monday, July 22, through Oct. 29, a segment of Southwest Vanderschuere Road will be closed for bridge replacement work, the Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation has announced.

Vanderschuere Road, which runs south of Hillsboro, will close between Southwest Midway and McCormick Hill roads. Motorists should plan on using Highway 219 and Southwest Laurel Road as a detour.

The three-month closure is needed to replace a timber bridge used by the road, according to Washington County. It will be replaced by a single-span concrete bridge.

The estimated project cost is $1 million. It's paid for through the Washington County Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program.
