Open house scheduled for Martin Road project
Planning to improve one of the Forest Grove area's most notorious intersections and road segments is moving forward, and members of the public are invited to share their thoughts Wednesday, July 31.
An open house will be held at the Forest Grove Community Auditorium for the Washington County road improvement project for Northwest Martin Road, which connects Highway 47 and Northwest Verboort Road.
While roundabouts have been added at two of Highway 47's junctions north of Highway 8, the Y-shaped Martin Road intersection hasn't been significantly upgraded. At rush hour, traffic can stack up for minutes waiting to turn onto or off of Martin Road.
The Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation plans to upgrade the intersection, as well as Martin Road's crossing of Council Creek, and widen the shoulders of the road.
The project is still being designed and planned. Construction is tentatively expected to start in early 2021.
The open house will be held between 5 and 7 p.m. July 31 at the Forest Grove Auditorium, 1915 Main St. No formal presentation is planned, but staff and a design consultant will be available to answer questions.
