The city has its official tree lighting ceremony the day after Thanksgiving, at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29. The holiday tree is outside the Forest Grove Senior & Community Center, 2037 Douglas St.

After the tree is lit up, there will be an indoor reception inside the senior center. Revelers are invited to enjoy refreshments, including cookies, hot cocoa and coffee.

There will also be a coloring contest, which will be judged by the Meals on Wheels People, which provide dining services at the Forest Grove Senior & Community Center.

The Neil Armstrong Middle School choir will provide music, singing carols and holiday music.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are also expected to make an appearance. This is a good opportunity for children to tell Santa their Christmas wishes, as well as for parents and guardians to get photos of their kids with the North Pole's foremost couple.

This is a rain-or-shine event. For more information, call 503-992-3293.
