FOREST GROVE POLICE PHOTO - Officers with the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash involving a motorist and a electric scooter driver on Saturday, Jan. 4. A man operating a motorized scooter suffered severe injuries after he was struck by a motorist in Forest Grove, police said.

Officers with Forest Grove Police responded to reports of the crash at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Mountain View Lane at 11:58 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, according to a release.

The 64-year-old operator of the electric-motor scooter was taken to a regional hospital for treatment of "potentially life threatening" injuries. Authorities first called for a Life Flight Helicopter, but pilots were unable to respond due to weather conditions, according to the News-Times' media partner, KOIN 6 News.

Police say the involved motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Speed and intoxication are not considered factors in the crash.

Washington County Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team and the Oregon Department of Transportation aided in the investigation.
